ornithologist

along comes the fear to possess me
at last. I expected it to
I shudder I shiver I switch
from my mind state of love

eyes closed, I imagine a bird
encaged in my mind
engaged in my mind

is it fear you will leave me
or fear I will run
nonetheless our demise
has already begun

farewell, my love

suddenly, out of the blue my cellular rings (and I do!)
hey honey, I say without worry
his voice is enough to console
my fear, much like love is dependent on choice
just a second ago I released it
and thus, with shared vision
proceed, shall we not
released like young birds
from the hands
of a curious, friendly, considerate man
